Slow Moves, Big Gains

We tend to think of yoga as a mindful activity—we move slowly, hold a pose and bring our focus to it. You also can bring this type of thought to other kinds of workouts...and benefit. Example: When you bring mindfulness to weight-training exercises, you do each rep slowly and carefully and can really feel each muscle working. The same is true for sit-ups and push-ups. Doing these moves slowly is more difficult than doing them quickly because you are not relying on momentum. In the end, you get a better workout.
